Institute of Contemporary Art (first) is built.
1960
Architect: Nathaniel Saltonstall. Designed by the ICA founder in the Modernist style, it is the first new building for the museum and located at 1176 Soldiers Field Road. The museum moves to 100 Newbury Street in 1963, back to Soldiers Field Road in 1968, 33 Beacon Street in 1970, 137 Newbury Street in 1972, and 955 Boylston Street in 1973. It moves to another new building (second) on Harbor Shore Drive in 2006.*
